My Story
Like many wellness business owners, my passion for wellness began when I was unwell.
It was early 2015 and I was on my way to work. My first job after graduating in English Literature, was as a Marketing Assistant for an events company based in Farringdon, London. In many ways, it was a great beginning - working in the pulsing heart of London alongside a lovely team and my uni friends working their own shifts just around the corner. After-work drinks were common and life just felt charged with an amazing energy.
It was my day off and the sun was shining bright as I buzzed my way through the front door. Keen - you might say. But I’d actually just had a hospital appointment a few tube stops away and was on my way to let my manager know that I wouldn’t be coming back for a while - I had cancer and needed treatment straight away.
Remember those retro Viewmasters where you look through the camera lens and click through a series of random photos? That’s what it felt like. One minute, you’re dressed in sharp lines and loving your sunshine life in the city and then *click* you’re timetabling medication, pyjama-clad and fighting for your life.
For the best part of a year, I went to hospital, was hooked up to chemotherapy, came back, spent three weeks feeling exhausted, nauseous and weak, the fourth feeling slightly better and then going through the cycle again. This happened six times. I lost my hair, my weight, my strength and almost my will.
But working as a Marketing Assistant, also got me hooked on copywriting. While I was home, I took advantage of the slow life and my empty diary to read books, join a digital marketing course and research all about copywriting to support small businesses. As much as I had enjoyed the start of my career, I didn’t want to go back and work my way up the promotion ladder before I could really get stuck into writing copy full-time.
And so, in the middle of everything,
I launched GB Copywriting, which has now become my personal brand.
Qualifications from
Whether it’s illness, burnout or another personal experience, there’s usually something big that makes us vault off the 9-5 conveyor belt and dare to believe in our heart-led dreams.
Once my treatment was over, living well became my top priority. I invested in creams to heal my dried-out skin, physiotherapy and personal training to build my strength, nutritionists who helped me restore my gut and weight and therapists, who helped me stay centred.
Wellness, in all its forms, allowed me to recover and now it’s not just something that I’m passionate about for myself, but also for business owners like you who are dedicated to improving the lives of your ideal clients.
I know what it’s like to be your ideal client and that’s why I’m in the unique position to help you.
I want you to shine so brightly that your ideal clients won’t want to look anywhere else.
I have the passion to give you unparalleled support and the expertise to give your business the power it needs to create an impact equal to that of any established brand.
I will be forever, forever, forever grateful to Gurpreet for the impact that she has had, not just on my business but on me personally, as an individual. And I think that if you're really serious about your mission and your impact and your growth, then you should really consider partnering with Gurpreet for so many reasons.
